A delightful surprise for such an old rpg.
The look of this game doesn’t look like an Illusion of Gaia or a Final Fantasy II. It would be less in the graphics department, but not so much so that you would have to pretend. For instance, the store when you walk up to it, you get a pop-up of the store owner; rather than going inside. So, I could appreciate the leap from my GB rpgs; I had been playing games like Final Fantasy Legend III. If you like role-playing games, and you do not mind simpler graphics, the game has a lot to offer in game play. It isn’t as long as other Snes role-playing games I have played, but you are satisfied at the end, so for me it was long enough. I don’t remember having much choice in where to go, it was rather linear, not open and free roaming, which doesn’t have to be a bad thing. As I said earlier, I was glad to see the progress from the earlier Snes game and games that really showed what a Snes could do.

Had to use the guide more than I liked.
The game is mission based and so for me it was a unique experience. I remember the world from Final Fantasy X, so I didn’t have to learn the layout. I liked the story line, it moved things along fine for me. When I realized what I did, or did not do, would change my percentage, and alter what would happen in the game etc. I didn’t like it. I play a lot of role-playing games, and I put so many hours into a game to be strong and looking at every inch of the world. If I put the time in I don’t like being penalized for talking to someone to soon, or to late, or the wrong answer! So, I was always going back to the guide to make sure my percentage wasn’t any lower. I already new I didn’t have a perfect score early on and that bugged me. I did go into this game with a certain amount of expectation since I had such an extremely fun time with Final Fantasy X. For the most part I had a pretty good time playing it, but I would have liked to not of had the percentage element in the game.

Old graphics but the fun factor is high
I remember playing this game trying to get as far as I could, as fast as I could, while watching TV. It is the perfect game to play on the run, or just to pick up and play, because you do not have to remember anything prior to the last time you played. You pick your level, and how fast you want the pills to drop, start playing, and have fun. The graphics are Game Boy graphics but the fun factor is what I am basing my review on. I remember it being so fun I am thinking about buying the new Dr. Mario/Puzzle League that is out now.
