TS 7591A for RF Linear AMPLIFIER
I have a Ham Radio transmitter that I am using a pair of 7591A's in the RF final amplifier. The old Fisher branded tubes from 50+ years ago perform better than the JJ Tesla 7591A and the EH 7591A. The JJ is low on power, and the EH is poor on linearity. I was hesitant, but tried the new TS 7591A to compare. It seems that the power is back, and the tubes are linear too, much like the old Fisher's.
I run about 540v on the plates, on the screens I use +375v regulated, and for grid bias, I use about -22v regulated. The idle current is 25ma per tube. The RF power output is over 50 watts at 3.88 Mhz with full drive, and about 75 watts PEP with SSB voice.
These tubes have a stable bias point, and seem to operate well as an RF linear amplifier.
