A failed beta product way overpriced used.
4 of 4 found this helpful This repeater was considered a beta product for development of a new generation of C4FM devices and was sold by Yaesu for a few hundred dollars with the agreement that it would not be sold for one year. this model is known to have many problems including overheating and burnout. While there are many appearing for sale now very few are functioning or complete.
Internally there essensually two modified FTM 400 transceivers attached to a controller. Output has really been seen to be what is listed on the specifications and they are unstable - hence Yaesu's offer a factory refurbs and a very low resale/trade-in price.
Save your money and buy the DR-2X which costs about the same as most used or not working DR-1X models.

Complete garbage
This item is far from 'premium'. It is a plastic trash bag with a cloth cover connected to poorly hewn parts mounted with cheap plastic. It can be made to sound a note is unplayable due to non-functional valve.

A perfect balance of price and performance
While this may not be the fastest or newest processor on the market it is a perfect balance of price and performance for upgrading a Dell M6500 mobile workstation. It uses less power, and therefore generates less heat, than the top line processor while providing the same a quadcore (eight thread) platform at only a minor reduction in overall speed - all this at a significant saving of $100 to $200 depending on supplier.
