Whittling and Woodcarving by E.J. Tangerman (1962, Pape
This book was something of a disappointment. I have enough experience with old books to know that unless one is concerned with using power tools or electronics, most of the information contained in them remains pretty constant. I thought this book would be much more concerned with techniques of general whittling and wood carving. Instead it dealt with specific projects and patterns which, to me, were kitsch, "cute" frivolity in dubious taste and in which I am not interested. I was looking for solid information that could be applied over a much broader area. Understanding that while strokes demonstrated in use on carvings that are of little interest may also be used for my own purposes, I felt that this book did not deal sufficiently broadly with its subject to be of generalized use.

Finger Acupressure, book by Pedro Chan
I have always had an interest in healing techniques that one can apply to ones self or in an emergency. I am a 3rd degree Reiki master and use Emotional Frequency (tapping) Technique, so I was particularly interested in this tittle.
I am very satisfied with it. The information is presented in a concise fashion very easy for a lay person to understand, and the line drawings accompanying the various techniques are better than adequate and show exactly where to press or rub. I was actually able to use some information immediately on a six year old who responded promptly and without medication to cold symptoms and for her father's headache. I think this an excellent addition to a healing library.

4 gig Sansa MP3 player
I am a crafts worker and while my fingers are busy, my mind is frequently free. While I sometimes listen to music while I work, I find it distracts me. I prefer to listen to books which I can download from libraries. I bought this item because I had good experience with other Sansa MP3 players. I wanted more capacity and did not want to pay a lot for it.
Mostly I like it both for music and for listening to books. What I do not like about it that has not been an issue on earlier models of Sansa MP3 players I have had, is that the battery is not easily user changed. I have another Fuse player, an 8 gig bought in the same auction as the 4 gig. With other Sansa models I have had I could charge more than one battery and, if I ran out of juice on one, just put another in the player. Further, I had the confidence that should a battery become unchargable (unfortunately the players died before the batteries became unusable), I could purchase another.
Mostly I do like the Fuse players and with decent quality earbuds or phones I find their quality adequate to my needs when I listen to music. I also find that with adapters I can play through good speakers without noticeable distortion.
