Surprisingly good!
1 of 1 found this helpful I was sold ten ATW-3193b-TH systems by a local audio vendor to use for our school's K-8th theater program. I was new, but began catching on to things. I discovered that the mics that came with the systems (short boom ear-worn mics) were a REAL pain to handle. They had terrible gain before feedback, so, I was getting tons of feedback. I tried using a 31 band EQ, floor speakers pointed away from actors, and hours of experimentation. Finally, I bought 10 of these $30 mics. One of them was DOA. But the other 9 were a HUGE improvement over the expensive AT mics I had. I ordered 3 more, and they all worked, so I had two spare on top of my working 10. I have used them for a few years now (used with kids as young as 5, as old as 13), and one died, so I'm on another spare.
For the price, I am VERY satisfied. They sound great and haven't given me problems. I'm afraid they will go out of stock someday, which almost makes me want to stock up on more just to have them.
Note: They don't stay on an actor's ear very well by themselves, neither a child's nor an adult's. But for children's theater, I always put tape on their cheek for the mic anyway, so this has been a non-issue for me.
