A bit of a knitting disappointment
I purchased this knitting book because there was a specific pattern contained in it that a friend wanted me to make for them. I was very excited to get a new knitting book and once it arrived in the mail, I immediately started to look through at the other patterns. However, I was pretty disappointed with what I saw. First of all, none of the patterns in the book are too terribly complicated, so if you are a beginner sock knitter, than this book is more for you than an intermediate or advanced knitter. Second, I was not terribly impressed with most of the sock pattern designs. I thought that the majority of them were pretty plain and simple - sadly, for a sock book, I wasn't interested in knitting any of the socks! Third, the pictures that correspond with each pattern do not give you a clear idea of what a lot of the finished products really look like. The pictures are clear in that everything is in focus and bright colors, but there are no close-ups of any of the pattern stitches, so it is hard to figure out exactly what the finished product will look like until you actually finish making in. On a few patterns, the picture of the finished sock is actually right along the binding of the book, so you actually can't see the majority of the sock in the picture. Overall, this book was a bit of a disappointment and had I seen its contents while I was in a store, instead of just blindly purchasing it online for a single pattern, I probably would not have spent the money on the book.
