Fascinating history, great story!
Francine Rivers does a fantastic job writing absorbing stories with accurate history. When I read her books, I learn a lot of history as her characters live it.
I loved the Mark of the Lion series (3 books). The story opens in Jerusalem in the year 70 AD, with the Roman general Titus laying siege to Jerusalem and destroying it. The story follows a young Christian teenager as her family is slaughtered and she is carried into a life of slavery in Rome.
The first 4 chapters or so are very violent and graphic, with people being burned, raped and pillaged, so it is tough going at first. Once Hadassah reaches Rome, things calm down a bit and you get a view of Roman society. It isn't a pretty picture, but the story is absorbing and Hadassah's witness through tough experiences is inspiring. Through the course of the series, you will see Roman wealth and poverty, gladiatorial contests (horrible stuff) and even travel to Ephesus and meet the apostle John. It's very interesting to see the circumstances of the early church. Definitely worth reading.

Nice roller bottle with large, smooth ball
I bought a small roller bottle to make essential oil deodorant, but it was very awkward to use because it has a tiny ball. This one has a nice-sized ball that is comfortable rolling on your skin and the 1 ounce size is convenient and permissible for travel with TSA. It worked great for me.
