Works well, not fantastic, but i'd buy it again,i think
I had a non-digital tuning Panasonic and it worked very well. So I was happy to buy this one. The negatives (which may be for all digital tuning devices - have NO idea): 1) it is slower to power up, etc. than my prior unit (even though i have the "energy saver" feature turned off 2) it is slow to lock in the station when changing up/down the "dial" The negative specific to this unit: 3) there were a few times that i recorded w/ it and, when it was done w/ the recording, it lost all of its digital channels. I told it to re-find the stations and it couldn't. I had to leave it unplugged for some time and then power it up and it would do setup properly. The average person may have problems w/ fixing #3 above. I went to the Panasonic web site and downloaded their updated firmware, burned it to a disk and followed their instructions on having the player/burner read the disk and update its software/firmware. I believe it works well now. Other than the above, I'm very happy w/ it :-) So, if #3 if fixed, I'll stay happy and just live w/ the slower channel changing. Their positives: I like their user interface - both on the screen and the remote control (except the "menu" button on the remote - there is none - so we get confused when we want to get to a store bought DVD's menu to change something once replay is going. The Panasoic (both of mine) has been good at recording quality, playback, etc.

Rick Steves books are good for planning European vacations
I purchase a Rick Steves guidebook for every country I'm vacationing to. My sons (about 30 years old) say that he's more for my generation and they just scour the internet. I prefer the books, the hand-drawn maps and that Rick has been a good tour guide for decades and presents items for us with good insight.

Good self-guided tours and details.
I buy a Rick Steves book for every COUNTRY I visit. The Rome (specific) book has more listing, details and, most importantly for buying it - good printed maps of tours for museums and walks. Always buy a Rick Steves book for the country of visit. Buy a city-specific book if you're in town several days or want more knowledge/options.
