Suikoden V
Very much in the spirit of the Final Fanasty series, this is a rpg (role play game) with turn based fighting. The graphics and story are excellent and the game is very involved. The negitives are: lots of talking, slow to get started, and lots of load screens. It isn't just Final Fantasy with a different title, there is much more to the game than fighting monsters. There are duels, wars, and land and sea fights. If you are willing to put in the time to get past the mundane tasks of running errands and talking to people, the game becomes very interesting. The outcome of the game depends on how many people you can recruit to your side. Your words and actions effect the game. You need to find the right approach to the different characters (there are 108 different characters to recruit). During the regular battles you control up to six at a time, abilties differ and combo attacks are possible (if the right people are fighting together). I won't take a lot of time in describing the story in depth, but here is a very brief summery. You begin as a prince running errands for the queen. Women are the only one allowed to rule the Queendom. After an uprising, the queen is likked and your little sister is being held againat her will. You need to recruit and army and rescue her (since she is now the queen). If you are interested in rpgs with in depth stories and varied action, you will enjoy this game and get your money's worth. If you are looking for something to sit down with for a couple of hours, then you won't care much for Suikoden V. The game takes several hours of play to get to the real action.

The Godfather
Be a mobster, claw your way to the top and take control of New York. Quick review: An excellent buy. Indepth story, excellent graphics, great game play and enough missions to keep you busy for a long time. Fans of "The Godfather" movie won't be disappointed, the game is faithful to the original story. Fans of GTA will enjoy the familiar feel of the game. Want more info? You become an unofficial enforcer and work you're way up the ranks. The final goal is to take control New York. Along the way, you must deal with rival families, the police, and the FBI. The extensive map allows you to explore all of New York from the beginning. You can work toward taking control a section at a time (Little Italy, Hell's Kitchen, ect), or take a little bit of every area. Helpful mobsters give you tips on bribing the police, hijacking trucks, and methods to use. The senior members of the Family will give you missions as your respect level grows. Some of the graphics are repeated over and over (flower shop, bakery, hotels, cars), but the city is excellently rendered. You can easily get lost or wind up turning the wrong corner and being ambushed on a dead end street if you don't make use of your map. While the grame draws on the themes of the Grand Theft Auto games (random violence, steal cars, run over people) it is not a copy. The elements it borrows from the game add to the over all game play. This game is an excellent buy with weeks of game play no matter how good you are at video games.
