Great Writing and casting
1 of 1 found this helpful This western has realistic magnificant scenery, unuusal characters well cast, situations that accurately mirror the old west and even an few antique props, such as saddle blankets and barware that is accurate in extra detail, this looks like a classic move at times masquerading as dime a dozen comedy.
Good writing adds abstract emphasis right down to character names like Abel Wood that point out the cheezy nature of westerns as well as multicultural comedic frames of reference something like the original garden of Eden.
There is a lot of killing and punk adult humor, a couple fair attempts at original scores that have some authenticity even if a little too hispanic.
This in general would appeal to a more Spanish sense of humor rather than being
a general parady of mid or west western cattle cowboys or gunfighters per sae.
It seems set in New Mexico gold country but without the tumbleweeds and more rocky bluffs than actually exist, so that if suffers most of all from a lack of realism and historic believability. The fact that the movie turns into a quest for gold from humble beginnings is very redeeming however, unlike the obviously vein exploitation of many modern toomraider types of productions.
Sound is very good but expect an occasional decent into vocalist self agrandisement at the expense of the audience, who at least gets an all white set of actors without the usual pretense of non-discrimination among thieves and killers.
