Gibson Custom Shop L-4S Les Paul Electric Guitar T2073935
16 March 2017
Extremely rare but great
Introduced on the NAMM show in 2004 (along with the Keith Richards signature L-5S) this is sort of an upgraded version of the L-6S from the seventies. It is made of mahogany where the L-6s was made of cheaper maple. Where the L-6s was more or les a budget guitar, this L-4s was not exactly cheap: on introduction it listed $4.000! After two months it was removed from the sales-lists and the only other copy I have ever seen is a prototype in wine-red. It plays and feels great this guitar: it sounds somewhat between an SG and a Les Paul. It is conveniently simple to operate with just two knobs and a switch but you can get a whole lot of different tones out of it (coil tap pickups). It is a pity that this model went out of production so fast. It has become my favorite guitar instantly!!!!!
