    A Hard Day's Night - a timecapsule of a movie
If you were there, if you are old enough... stay away from a mirror while watching. You are going to go back in time. If you were NOT there, if you are too young - this is your introduction to what the 1960s were before the Vietnam War and other issues simply took over. Irreverent but never mean, frolic-prone but never wearing, the movie dispenses with the usual concerns such as a plot or meaningful dialogue and simply tries to look at a day through the lives of some young men who didn’t know they were changing the world, or that they would change - significantly – from this view. The humor ranges from broad to clever, but the “view” never moves from optimistic and upbeat. Watch – and be renewed….

The Duellists - outstanding period drama
This is an outstanding period piece (Napoleonic era) and is a story told in an unusual way - the two protagonists, with an insignificant if not imagined slight between them, fight over their "honor" (the Napoleonic Code dealt heavily with honor, and in some ways this predilection with the past kept France from moving quickly into the modern world). But the story is not so much of the lives of two men -- rather it is told in episodes where their paths cross over the years, and their "unsettled business" becomes a parallel existence. At each of these intersections one learns a bit more of each man, and watches them change – either rising to the challenge or sinking beneath it – and the years pass and their political (and person) environments change as well. Beautiful filming, an excellent cast, attention to historic period detail and grand storytelling (you won’t see the ending coming but you won’t imagine a better, or more fitting, one) all contribute to making this a grand film. Note: watch for the proposal scene, where the horses seem in on the plot!

    A bit TOO do-it-yourself
I received the product recently and toyed with it, making some trial cuts..... I did not buy it for a project underway right now, hence the "trial" use. It will get a good workout next February when I replace carpeting in the master suite with a r-e-a-l wood floor, but the trial indicates this tool will be very helpful undercutting jambs, cutting carpet, and more. But one caution: the instructions supplied are simply the worst I have ever seen. To change blades, for example, it has only a single sketch showing you flip up the lever on top and revolve it a quarter turn -- and there are NO written instructions, just the sketch. I had to go to YouTube to find videos showing you KEEP ON TURNING the level round-and-round..... this drops the tool's chuck so you can attach blades. I am really shocked a major toolmaker thinks the level of instructions they offer, which is next to none, are "worthy." Even worse, I found LOTS of videos on YouTube consisting of the I-am-a-workin'-guy-you-can-tell-by-my-workin'-guy-clothes fellow cutting a 2x4 and so on, BUT those videos are nothing but ads, extolling the wonders of the product and showing it cutting this material and that material. Really, I knew all of that from the advertising I saw BEFORE I bought the tool. I was fortunate enough to find a video by a consumer who showed how to attach the blades. HOWEVER.... he was only attaching Rockwell blades. They give you an attaching device shaped like a bolt with a triangular head and indicate this is how you attach blades designed for all other oscillators..... an excellent feature, and a selling point they mention all the time in their advertising, but cannot write a quick paragraph to tell you how to use it. I'll go back sometime and look for a video on how to do that. Before closing let me state that 1) I used to write instructional materials, so I have some experience in the field 2) I have used power tools for about 45 years, drills to cutoff saws to routers to planers, so I am not a "newbie," and 3) yes I did check the box for other materials and did read all of the instructions. For heaven's sake, it CUTS things, so one might reasonably think the manufacturer would want to offer clear instructions so no one gets hurt (and hey, Rockwell... sues you). I would not say this lack of reasonable instructions should keep anyone from buying the tool but I feel you should know you will probably need to research using it to get much out of owning this tool.
