Good for weight training.

Well, to be honest I wanted these for a welding project where I needed an exact 1" diameter bar, with dumbbell threading on the end. These work perfect, by simply removing the rubber grip in the middle. Most other dumbbell handles have smaller knurled grips, not 1" diameter. Nevertheless, these are good for weight training too. I've used two other sets for over 20 years. Just don't over-tighten the retaining nuts (speed locks), because the pressure starts breaking down the rubber grip.

Starrett Tools Hold Their Value

Used Starrett tools are often a good value. As long as they are cared for they can hold their value for many decades. This one was in VERY good shape. I plan to hand it down to my grandchildren, along with other Starrett tools.

Good Investment to Protect Your Other Tools

Tools are meant to be used and in a rugged working environment they can get damaged. When you need a blade for your combination square that could potentially get damaged, using a "blem" is ideal. If you ruin it, who cares! You're not out a lot of money, but it's still good enough to rely on for accuracy. Don't waste your money on cheap quality junk, that might not even be accurate. Get a good quality tool, with minor cosmetic flaws. Having a few extras of these around helps to protect the investment in your precision tools that NEED to stay in pristine condition for those delicate and highly precise tasks.
