Cheapest serial connection for your lab
I use these for the serial connections in my CCNA/CCNP lab. Also they will be needed for the frame relay and MLPPP labs. I made some T1 crossover cables by making one end as usual and swapping orange and blue on the other end. They work great for the labs, are very reliable, not as fragile as the WIC-2T "smart Serial" connectors, much cheaper than any other WIC card, especially when you add in the cost of the cables. For non lab use they are excellent T1 cards.

perfect lab router
0 of 1 found this helpful This is the best choice for a Cisco lab router. It has gigabit ports to match up with your gig switch ports or the FE ports for unequal cost routing. The memory is expandable cheaply to run any IOS, and it has USB ports to make it quick and easy to upgrade/downgrade/backup. it will accept CF cards up to at least 8gb, but will only boot on cards up to 2 gb. it is easy to configure at the CCNA level, but can be expanded to cover all topics of the CCIE labs. Best of all they are cheap and readily available on ebay. I run mine with 4 wic 1dsu T1 cards for the serial connections. They are cheap and plentiful and I can make t1 cross over cables for pennies.
