Donegan OptiVISOR® Binocular Magnifier DA-5, 2-1/2X, 8

Quality Design
While searching for visor/headband magnifiers, the only brand with a reputation of quality was Donegan. I read the reviews and noted the occupations and tasks of users. The Donegan Optivisor is very well made with attention to detail. The headband is adjustable and the tension of the flip-up pivot points can be adjusted. The visor does not interfere with eye glasses, The lenses are glass, not plastic, and can be easily changed. Donegan has been in business since 1952 and specializes in magnifiers and they even have a chart of focal lengths and magnification of the various lenses. The optional eye loupe doubles the magnification and can be swung up or down when needed.

Best Choice for Money
I was looking for a macro flash that would sync with my Nikon, D80, dslr camera. The aftermarket LED units are good but do not have the power of the strobe tubes. The older SB-29 does not have the 1/32 setting and the newer Nikon macro flash is costly. The SB-29s works great and has the 1/32 setting. The only problem I had was the difficulty locating the mounting adapters. A generic lens adapter ring worked until I found the Nikon adapter made for the SB-29s. I use the flash for close-up forensic evidence photography.

Very Accurate Instrument
I needed a laser distance measuring instrument for law enforcement and forensic use. The models sold at hardware and home improvement stores did not offer the range or accuracy. I selected Leica as they make accurate instruments including the 360 degree laser scanner. The Leica, A6, Distometer has amazing range and accuracy to about 600 feet. Leice does not offer very specific instructions; however, advanced instructions and techniques were found on-line. Observing the lasser dot in bright sunlight is difficult and I found that brown reflective tape works well. The cross hair viewer helps substantially. I experimented with various colors of reflective sheeting and found brown to be the most effective. Colors light yellow, red, and white illuminate the red laser dot, but display error readings. I am now looking for a newer model that offers a video screen. The Leice Disto is far easier, faster, and more accurate than tape measurers or measuring wheels at crime and accident scenes. When the button is held down, continious readings are taken and displayed.
