I
This book and the series attached to it (The Chronicles of Prydain, Lloyd Alexander) are both criminally underrated.
These books, of which The High King is the conclusion, are the finest children's fantasy books I've ever read, and that includes the Chronicles of Narnia, which, while I wouldn't say these are SUPERIOR to, I would say they are absolutely on par with one another.
The books predate the cynical wave of 'YA' that drains all the wonder from fantasy to write up what is essentially a treatment for a big-screen Hollywood adaptation, but they also don't shy away from telling stories with real stakes.
The fourth book, Taran Wanderer, had a serious impact on my development as a kid in particular, as it's literally all about the books' protagonist's transition from boyhood to manhood.
I ordered this particular edition because of the cover art, which to my mind is some of the most beautiful fantasy cover art ever done, and, naturally, was the edition I had as a child. Came in great condition, 10/10. I never write reviews btw. Luh dis.
