    Great book!
This book gives teachers of all grades ideas for group writing workshops. It focuses on student guided group work, which includes teaching students editing, revising, and publishing. Oglan's book has ideas that are practical and attainable at a low cost and in a timely manner. He gives examples mainly from elementary students, but the principles used can be applied to any grade. This book is well organized and full of tasty classroom writing lesson ideas. Great addition to any teacher's library!

    Semi-peculiar
To be honest, I expected more from this book. The title was catchy, but I felt like the characters were not "peculiar" at all. I wanted a little more eccentricity in the main characters, or at least some more humor. The book is slow moving, as it entirely revolves around a bitter divorce. There is not much that stands out, and I was dissapointed, because the title is strong. There is one scene in the mid-end of the book that was ironically funny, which was when the wife calmly tries to help the husband fix the bomb he has attached to his midsection, while fixing dinner in the middle of the kitchen. Otherwise, I would recommend something else. Sorry Ken Kalfus!
