3 of 3 found this helpful For a while now, I've been using an old Nokia phone that my sister had given me. It was really Ok back at the time, and would do what it was supposed to do - Receive calls.
Lately though, it stopped working well and would whine about SIM card not inserted properly. I knew I had to finally get myself a new phone.
Then Google comes up with the Nexus S.
Man, the pictures do it no justice. And they are beautiful, you'd have to agree.
The phone is really stylish and when I received it I immediately felt a bit more sexy. Friends at work drooled over it and the annoying co-worker that happens to own an iPhone4G just stood speechless.
Ok, but showing off is merely just an added bonus. The usability is absolutely great.
The screen is large and bright. Touch takes just minute getting used to.
I connected to my home and work wifi networks. Internet works flawlessly. You can even talk into the microphone and let Google find whatever you want.
GPS is just terrific! I've been wanting to get myself a GPS device and the Nexus S already comes with one! I used it a couple of times already and it brought me exactly to where I needed to go (Phew).
It comes with Google maps app. Satellite / Map view. Ability to find restaurants nearby. A lot more that I did not yet check out.
Camera is a bit lacking. 5MP is below standard if you ask me.
There's a front facing camera for video calling / Skype video chat. Did not try it out yet.
Games - If you're like me, you'd be happy to hear it's a great gaming device. Things like Angry Birds run smoothly and without a hitch.
I recommend SF-Cave though. A mini game that will suck away your time easily : )
Last thing, android 2.3 (the current version) supports Hebrew out of the box, but not entirely.
Upon first use, I had to download a Hebrew keyboard that would let me send out text messages in my language. I use AnySoftKeyboard and it seems to do the job more or less.
So all in all, I'm very satisfied. It may not be the right phone for everyone, but being a tech savvy, it really is a gadget that will play nice : )
Love,
Ronh
