Motor had loose flywheel causing squealing and poor running.
This loco ran nicely for about an hour and then suddenly began making a loud squealing noise and running erratically. When I took it apart to see what was causing the issue I found that one of the motor flywheels became loose and was rubbing against the engine frame. Also, when I removed the flywheel to glue it I noticed that one of the 2 screws holding the motor to the motor mount was missing. I used a special glue for the flywheel and it seems to be secure now. When I re-assembled the loco and tested it on the track there now is some excessive gear noise coming from the rear truck. I don't know what is causing that yet. At least the squealing is gone...

Nice running locomotive
The loco runs very well, smooth and quiet. A few of the body detail parts were broken or had fallen off, fortunately they were in the box so I was able to fix them. The drive (gears, wheels, etc) was clean so I didn't have to take it apart for cleaning and lube (which I usually need to do for used locos). And the lighting worked (which is also not always the case with a used loco).
