Boss DS-1, a Classic!
1 of 1 found this helpful This is a great pedal and a classic. It also uses a classic through hole PCB, which makes it even better!
If you’ve never had one and don’t know how to set it up I recommend hitting up YouTube and watch the Sweetwater demo. With the right pedal and amp settings the DS-1 delivers a classic rock tone. It works with Tube and Modeling amps. Get it while you can!

Please read this carefully
I recommend this pedal to anyone who has an electronics repair or pedal building background. This is a Mesa Boogie preamp emulator. It replaces the tubes in the amp with FETs. To do this the FETs need to be biased to roughly 50% of the supply voltage. This should have been done with mini trim pots on the PCB. The PCB is even silkscreens for those pots.
However resistors where put in those areas and the bias was not correct. This caused a very weak distortion sound. If you buy the trim pots and adjust them you will like this pedal. Really it’s a good pedal that any collector or builder should own if you like the MB sound. This circuit has a lot of history with effect building hobbiests from 2000. If you’re just a guitar player and you don’t have repair experience or can’t find a person you trust to do the work you should pass on this.

Great softbox lights for beginners
1 of 1 found this helpful I’m 99% happy with these lights. The hardware is good quality and the shipping package was good. Having individual switches for each light is a HUGE PLUS. The cords go all the way to the floor if the tops of the 2 main boxes are at 6 feet.
What I didn’t like was that I wish they came with the inner diffuser cloth (wasn’t in description, so not a complaint) and I did see sparks in the ack of the light housing when I switched on the light sometimes. DO NOT turn these on if you smell gas in your studio or home. Done expect the included bag to hold all the gear. Maybe just the bulbs (in their foam and boxes) and the silver softbox covers. Lastly, you need to get some small weights for the bag hanging off the boom. For the beginner these are not huge negatives, just be away of what your getting.
Overall a great balance of product and price for beginners.
