Good....but not as satisfying as the 1981 MFSL release.
I had high expectations for this release when it was announced. The packaging as usual was top notch (though the cover painting, sadly, seemed to have a "washed out" look) but the the audio left me indifferent. It got a "pass"....but that is all. Nothing stood out in a dramatic way as you'd expect. Simply put, it sounded "flat". Yes, everything seemed balanced and properly equalised....but there was no "knockout punch". On the other hand, when you listen to the original MFSL pressing from 1981 there is definitely a "wow" factor. The bass is well defined, the sound of the acoustic guitar is detailed and has presence. The drums have snap. In my opinion the difference between these two releases is like night and day. I would place the DCC pressing in the same class as the Analogue Productions UHQR release. 9/10 for the music....6/10 for the audio.
