Not bad...but with glaring problems, when compared to the superior orginal
What a disappointment...sort of. This is actually a really good game, it really is. It has a great story and an interesting 'back and forth' between playable characters from the US, Russia and the UK. But the problems are very noticable, as well. First off, the new "realness" (that is, the flight experience on the game compared to 'real world' flying) is perhaps too real. One cannot make sharp turns in the air without stalling out, forcing you to stop everything and get your plane flying again (or you will slam into the ground), for instance. This sequel also has the player doing long, and VERY boring, mid-flight refueling and landing procedures. Perhaps this is more 'real'...but the point of a video game is supposed to be to amplify the 'real' world to the point where it is constantly exhilirating and condensed. Hawx 2 didn't get that memo. The other complaint I have is that the multiple, playable aircraft inventory (and weapons packages for them) that was, argueably, the best thing about the first game, is gone in Hawx 2. In this game, the player is given one kind of aircraft with one set weapons package. This takes away alot of the qualities of the first one that made it so addictive and 'varied'. I'd still recommend Hawx 2 to any fan of flight simulation games...but i'd also suggests that, after the gamer finishes playing it, they play the original Hawx and see what a really, really good flight simulator can be.

Great 'flight simulator' game! Highly recommended!
This game is a conundrum, as it is both sophisticated yet easy to play. Like a lot of games with these aspects...it is also addicting. I'm serious, even after you've beaten the games storyline battles, you'll find yourself going back and playing these battles over and over in order to increase your rank, which will unlock more playable aircraft in the inventory. And this is neither boring nor overbearing in its feelings of repetiveness. I've played this game before and aside from the fact it has to be the best 'flight simulation' game ever, its attention to detail and interesting storyline makes this one hard to top. The fact that so many military aircraft, from past present and future, are available for the player, is just 'icing on the cake'.

Very Good Doc...
Excellent DVD! Gives great, general overview of the 1991 Gulf War between the U.S. and coalition forces and Saddam's Iraq. Great documentary overall. However, it could have used a bit more detail. Still excellent.
