Timeless quality vintage pyrex
2 of 2 found this helpful The purchase of vintage Pyrex storage containers is an investment in health and organization! Storage in Pyrex is a healthy alternative to the use of modern storage containers because there's no plastic to leech into food. It 's helpful in kitchen organization because it's manufactured to stack neatly in the cupboard.
Vintage pyrex (in all colors and designs) is great for baking fresh foods, and for storing and reheating leftovers. Covers fit just snug enough to maintain moisture, resulting in tender and delicious meals. Its use is reminiscent of dinners at Grams in the 1960's,for all people who are sentimental about such good things.
It is, however, a product best suited for people who are willing to take the time to hand wash their cookware. Because this generation of Pyrex (primary color yellow, blue, red) was manufactured before the common use of dishwashers, the exterior color does NOT hold fast with repeated dishwasher use.
Note: When purchasing, be sure to look for statements about the condition of the items. If no comments, take time to ask questions about the presence of cracks, chips, or "flea bites" aka chips in the lids. Look carefully at photos to determine if there is dishwasher-related fading and glaze degradation on the exterior. If the original color and shiny surface is important to you, then be prepared to purchase at the higher end of the pricing scale. If you're just looking for good containers and don't care about the exterior design, then search for one of the less popular exterior designs.
