All Quiet on the Western Front

Having bought , and thoroughly enjoyed reading , a copy of the book in a second hand market during the summer I wanted to see how well the book was portrayed on film . I was not disappointed , the book had a powerful message , the film succeeded in getting the message over . War was not glorified , the scenes in the trenches were uncomfortably real . The casting was spot on , Ernest Borgnine was perfect in the part , I even forgot that " John Boy " was in the film . Thoroughly recommended . I have bought the original film version , again off Ebay !!

Anna and the King (DVD 2000)

Having been on holiday to Thailand and Vietnam I thought that it would be a good idea to see the true story of "The King and I" , I was not disappointed . The scenary was stunning , the acting was first rate , the whole experience was special . I even watched the film through with the Director's comments and was transfixed , even if a little annoyed that the sets had totally conned me . ie not filmed in Thailand . Anyone who likes a good love story with epic backdrops should get hold of this film , it was great
