Celestron R/A Single Axis Motor Drive for the AstroMaster Telescope New

Works, but with significant drawbacks

While the motor functions as intended, what drives me up the wall is the inability to use the RA axis manually with the motor attached. This is pretty aggravating, especially while switching eyepieces, as manual adjustments are what brings the object into view. Then there is the fact that it is quite bulky, and can only be attached to one side of the mount, meaning objects near the meridian are near impossible to see with the motor attached. Aside from that, it's kind of cheap in construction, and it seems rather fragile. All in all, it could prove to be useful to some, but to most it might seem like an unnecessary expense and a source of frustration. Perhaps if one was well skilled at centering the object in view before attempting to switch eyepieces, had the tracking speed just right, and got really used to moving it north and south to control the view more, it might be rated three stars. But I've yet to really put it to use so far because of the issues above, and I can't say I'd recommend it to anyone.
