Deadly Strangers (1974/1975) Hayley Mills, Simon Ward Thriller Movie on DVD

Classic rare 70s film at a sensible price
I’ve always loved this film since seeing it as a child, but it’s very hard to get hold of these days, and very rarely seen on the telly. So I was delighted to find it here - and at a good price too. The transfer isn’t HD-perfect perhaps, but it’s absolutely fine for me - and so good to see this classic film again. Nicely packaged and sent promptly, and in a neat DVD case with a printed disc label. A great addition to any film-lovers collection, and highly recommended!
The Dukes of Hazzard: Season 2 DVD (2005) Catherine Bach

The Dukes are back!
It’s been great to enjoy some childhood nostalgia by reliving this classic series on DVD - and I’m glad to say it’s just as funny, fresh and entertaining as it always was. They don’t make ‘em like this anymore! It’s business as usual for the Duke family in this second season, as they get entangled with the law and more of Boss’s schemes - but always somehow win the day and stay on top as the good ole boys.
JAPAN QUIET LIFE REMASTERED CD *Pre-Order* 05/03/2021

Eastern promise...
It was good to hear this album at long last - though it only took me 40 years to eventually buy it! I liked Japan in the 80s, and bought a couple of their other albums back then, but this one seemed to pass me by. It’s of course their their third album, and marked a change in style from the Iggy Pop-like glam punk of their first two to a more sophisticated synthesized sound - not to mention David Sylvian’s more restrained and slightly croony vocals. Under the guidance of Roxy Music producer John Punter, they put in a good shift with the album - the glistening pop of ‘Quiet Life’ still being one of most easily recognizable new wave songs of the 80s. There’s also the delicious cover of Lou Reed’s ‘All Tomorrow’s Parties’ - later of course remixed and released as a single. There’s a nice vibe of sophistication running through the 8 tracks here, many reflecting the band’s travels to Japan and Canada, where they were huge in 1979. They’re very good musicians of course too, and seem to have found a sound and genre all of their own here. I really enjoyed listening to this, and a taking a journey back to the 80s when music and fashion was at its peak.
