Replacement

This is a replacement for the original that I bought for my daughter over 20 years ago!! The original has just about come to the end of its life so if this lasts only half as long it will be worth it. Seems just like the first one,very soft and velvety.

Drives me nuts but would still buy again!!

This was bought as a replacement for an earlier model in which the DVD drive has ceased to function. It is the only model by any manufacturer that I can find which will transfer HDD to DVD. It's predecessor was a dream to use and I could find no fault with it. This model, although on paper superior, is extremely slow to respond in all functions (including switching on!) The advert panel on the EPG is frustrating to the nth degree and so far I can only get to record direct to the HDD and not direct to disc as before (I'm not saying you can't do this - I just haven't managed to do it) Although RAM discs are still usable Panasonic's own RAM discs in carriers are not, so older discs in carriers will not load into this machine! Having said this , it still has a lot going for it. The picture quality, features and ease of use are still excellent and I would still buy the same machine again - mainly because it is the only one of its kind!! If Sony did the same or very similar I would have a very close look at it. If it is an option I would suggest the equivalent model for Satellite as this has no advert panel on the EPG (it really does annoy me) but as that was impractical for me at the time I had to purchase the Freeview version. The series link is an improvement from my old machine but I would happily trade this for a faster machine and no adverts!! I really think in this case that if it wasn't broken then don't fix it.
