A GOOD BASIC TEACHING TOOL
My Mah Jong group in Mount Gambier, South Australia, uses this book as their bible, however it does not cover all the combinations available. It does give a well illustrated choice of hands with which to play and is highly recommended as an introduction to all the variations. The fact that there are sample hands illustrated makes it easy for beginners to comprehend.

A good but basic guide
I recommend the book as a basic guide to only a few onsen; it concentrates on the better known ones which have mostly already been reviewed in other books. I would like to see some of the lesser known, off-the-beaten-track ones comprehensively reviewed for overseas readers who may not be able to get to Japan easily but who still want a comprehensive guide to the MANY onsen in Japan. I would like to see photographs of each hot spring facility instead of things like bath accessories, toys, local scenery.There are also many spelling errors in this book and the editor has failed in his/her job.
