John Adams should be required viewing by all citizens
I'm not much of a history buff, but this series seriously opened my eyes to the incredible struggle we had in establing a new and independent government over 230 years ago. It portrays the characters, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin to name but a few as real human beings with flaws and excess baggage, yet able to focus and dedicate heart and soul to the rights and freedoms that we now take for granted. It certainly reminded me of the pride and glory of America and inspite of its occasional flaws, we live in a wonderful country with open arms and adventuresome spirit.
