Great lens for a great price.
7 of 8 found this helpful For the price, this is a great lens with a lot of functionality. If you are expecting what Canon people call "L" quality (because Canon's high end lenses have the letter "L" after the minimum f-stop rating), then you won't get it; however, if you are expecting a good lens for a great price, then you are all set. Get this one as it is truly an excellent lens for a beginner.

An unbelievably superb lens! It is a hidden gem!
1 of 1 found this helpful This is one of my favorite, if not my favorite, lens from Canon. I took my best 2 pictures with this lens as the San Diego zoo! I regret every day that I sold it and long to have it again. The speed is fantastic at f/2.8 and the focus is lightening fast, too. The colors and clarity is out of this world. If you can pick up for a bargain, you have robbed someone... if you pay just less than what it would sell new, then you still have a great deal. I need this lens again!

This is one sharp and solid lens that really performs!
1 of 1 found this helpful All I can say is wow! I really like this lens and it is fantastic. It is solidly built withe weather sealing revealing the high "L" glass quality that Canon puts into their lenses. You will be very happy with this one and the performance on my 30D camera was amazing. Also, the constant f/4 aperture is strong and very usuable with a good camera like a 30d that has very strong high ISO settings. Finally, the range is perfect for many things, so you will find that really helpful. If you are interested, this is a great lens and a wonderful investment!
