It seems a genuine product and works as expected

It seems a standard Apple accessory. You need to buy a separate USB-c to USB-c cable to connect it, unless you want to carry a cable provided with MacBook. I bought the adapter to avoid disconnecting and carrying an original power adapter supplied with MacBook to an office. The adapter works for the purpose as expected.
