Saeco Lavazza A Modo Mio - great Italian coffee maker
This is my second one. The first was for home, but I liked it so much I bought a second for work. This is an excellent coffee maker if you are looking for something of the pod using ilk, but want something a lot better than a nespresso. The coffee extraction is by steam with quite a good amount of coffee used per serve. You can only use take Lavazza pods, but there is a variety of strengths available and its worth starting with a sample pack to figure out which one you like. The machine is by Saeco, which are probably the best coffee machine maker on the domestic market - they have been honing their technical skills for a long time and it shows in both simplicity of function and quality result. The colours are great. Don't use the bar as a handle. Learn how to prime the machine so its not a frustration when you have to do it. If you are making a cappuccino make the coffee bit first as frothing milk requires a hotter temperature than making coffee and it takes longer to cool than heat. The instructions are pretty poor (italian is the first language), but its also pretty hard to break the machine so jump in and give it a go. If you forget to shift the bar the pods will just drop through, but as they are un-pierced you can retrieve them and have another go. Once you have been making coffees for a while the instructions start making sense. The premium, which allows you to adjust the coffee measure retails for $400. The extra, which will give you a standard espresso shot is about $300 and just fine. Good luck with your bidding.
