Good CD player
1 of 1 found this helpful So far so good. I like the sound - and ease of using it. But, I do just use the CD part. Seems to be solid, and I expect it'll last a year or more.

Phonics Rigby Literacy Teaching Notes and Take-Home Activities Grade 3
This is right on for teaching children how to read. It's up-to-date for what we know about how people learn to read, and engaging activities. Ditch trying to teach children read by trying the old system of Dolch words or otherwise site words. Dolch words, taught in order, miss out on the 5 essential components of reading (google it):
PHONICS & PHONEMIC AWARENESS are 2 of the categories.
Traditional use of Dolch words simply doesn't cut it.
This book gets at teaching Dolch words in the context of phonics and phonemic awareness by teaching word families which includes Dolch words and non-Dolch words for the sake of effectively teaching the child to read.
In short - this book is excellent!
I don't see that teaching all the Dolch words is its aim. But, it gets at them, and does it in the context of word families.
My experience is that it's also good for kids with autism. The false stereotype that these children usually CAN'T learn phonics, is simply that - a false stereotype. Typically they CAN learn by phonics.
