OK, let me be quite clear here - I'm glad I bought this item, because it is is a fraction of the price of a top-of-the-line product.
When I did my venomous snake handling training, we got to use some really good tongs. They were comfortable to use (not these ones, sharp bits everywhere that bite into my hand), kind to the snakes (not these, more sharp bits, despite the product description - I taped some rubber tube over each jaw) and were a good quality build (not these, the ends of the tubes that have to slide in the plastic joint-sleeve were jagged and I had to grind them smooth.
But the professional ones were over $200! And if I was doing snake capture/relocation on a regular basis, I would get them without hesitation. But I got these knowing I may never actually get to use them, or at best, once or twice in as many years, because I live in a "snakey" area and need them just in case one gets into the house.
Bottom line with these:
Great value, and they work, and will do the job if I need it. But if you're planning on catching a lot of snakes, you'd be better off spending a lot more money on a better quality item.
