Indispensible for the young Backyardigans fan
This guide book is a digest of information from the television show and the Backyardigans books. There is little that is new, but this colorful guide is great for young children obsessed with the Backyardigans.
As a grown-up, however, I would have wished for a little background information on the show, its creator, and a little more analysis.

One of the best children's fantasy novels ever
The Children of Green Knowe is a beautifully written fantasy novel from the 1950s. A young boy, Tolly, arrives at his great-grandmother's house and begins to discover that there are other mysterious entities inhabiting the house. But this exquisite book is not anything like the Spiderwick Chronicles or other recent fantasies with a similar theme. Although The Children of Green Knowe is as exciting as any modern fantasy novel, its literary qualities makes it far superior to the Spiderwick Chronicles, or even the Harry Potter books. This book evokes a sense of sacred space, belonging, family, and lingering memories.
