It's a Keeper
I was looking forward to the DVD release of Night's new "R" rated film, The Happening. I didn't get a chance to see it in theatres, so DVD is the next best thing. Started out quick, love that, no waiting for character building. It kept a pretty good pace, lots of suspense. Most movies have predictable moments, including this one, but all in all a very good movie. Pretty great cast. Deleted scenes and all the extras were interesting. Definitely not a waste of time. I own all of Night's movies on DVD and would recommend this one for your collection!

Absolutely Chilling
The movie The Strangers is inspired by true events. The beginning of the movie is actually the end of the movie, then they recap. Even though you have already figured out the fates of the couple, it's an intriguing intro and you're hooked. Scott Speedman and Liv Tyler play Kristen and James, a couple who has just returned to a remote summer home, from a friends wedding. The events unfold fairly quickly, the story takes place all in one evening. Absolutely frightening in a very real way. I think the only big disappointment to me was that there are no subtitles, and I always keep the subtitles on to catch the whispers and background noise. This movie reminded me a lot of Funny Games(which came out on DVD earlier this year),because the people are the monsters. Seemingly normal and therein lies the terror! Not much in the way of bonus features, but if you like suspense thrillers you won't be disappointed.

Creepy-5* & Plot-1*
I love scary movies! I try not to think too much about them and dissect the plot. However, when watching the movie "Mirrors", I couldn't help myself. Long Story Short - Here's the deal: Kiefer Sutherland is a cop on forced leave due to an accidental shooting and a subsequent drinking problem. In return, he is estranged from his wife and children. In order to support this family he never sees, he takes a nightwatchman job at a burned-out department store. Which happens to be haunted. (For some strange reason, the never-seen owners want it patrolled.) The ghosts eventually follow him home. After some researching, and a little help from his "friend on the force", he figures out it all stems back to a tragic accident some 50 years ago. Basically, the demons want closure. I really enjoy Special Features on a DVD. The "Deleted Scenes" on this one, really help to tie up loose ends. The "Alternate Ending(s)",were decent. The "Making Of" was so-so. The best parts about this movie: The Cast, The Lighting and the Special Effects. The worst parts: Everything Else. Bottom Line: Predictable. Still,I would've given the movie a 2.5. (Because I did have goosebumps a few times, and that counts for something:)
