Poor video quality
1 of 2 found this helpful It’s obvious that the original video source included burned in english subtitles that were subsequently blurred out to conceal them.
A very poor quality DVD version.

Anna May Wong at Her Best
A highly engaging pre code silent film. It would be a mistake to allow the “silent aspect” prevent you’re watching this. It is a movie which addresses social aspects decades ahead of its time. It’s got everything, multiple murders, lust, rejection, revenge. Throughout it all Anna May Wong steals every scene and is the center of attention.
It’s obvious the film was restored from different film stocks. Wong’s Chinese costume is a little comical, but probably a reflection of western ignorance of far eastern cultures.
