twice the payload, half the size, tons of options
If you can't decide between MXR's Phase 45 and Phase 90, or perhaps the modern vs. vintage, "script" version, THIS IS THE TICKET. And it's almost half the size of the average pedal! Great job, MXR/Dunlop.

Fender MiM Strats - great value for price
5 of 6 found this helpful I've never payed much attention to the MiM guitars before this, as I've had my eye on some pricier MiA models before this, and have only done work on other peoples' US Strats and a few Squier models.... but I decided that I would test the Fender waters again after being pretty much a GIbson type for years.
I was pleasantly surprised with my purchase when it arrived, and lately have been picking it up more than any of my Gibsons, or other guitars. Initially I picked this up as a fixer-upper/experimenting guitar, and it can definitely benefit from some upgrades, but this guitar stays in tune exceptionally well for a stock instrument, has very decent fretwork ( ( aside from some fretwear spots, as I purchased this in used condition ), has a good weight and balance, nice feeling ( but rather slim for my preference ) neck and an overall pleasant sound. I have the bridge set to float for a full step pull-up on the G string and the guitar stays in tune remarkably well with aggressive useage.
My minor hang-ups are that I am not a fan of the seemingly overly thick finish, and the vibrato arm seems to be unusually close to the surface of the guitar, more than with other Strat type guitars I've played. I constantly hit the top of the volume control. I guess all of this is splitting hairs, for a low to mid-level priced instrument.
Is this on the level of some of the nicer US made guitars? No, I can't say that... but "for the money", I'd say that if this particular guitar is indicative of the quality of the Fender MiM series instruments, they're a great choice for the player on a budget and the gigging musician. This guitar will be a rager with some simple and low cost hardware/electronic upgrades.
