I am a ceramic historian and studio potter, with a particular interest in Korean ceramics and stoneware from Kyushu. Having completed an academic study on Chōsen-Karatsu, I turned my hands towards the potters wheel. 宜しくお願い致します
My interest in ceramics began early on. Having studied at the Ceramics Research Institute at Ewha Womens University in Seoul, I then turned to investigate the Korean pottery influence on Kyushu where I began my academic foray into Karatsu ware. After my research was completed, I turned my hand to the potters wheel. Inspired by collections of antique Korean and Japanese wares, I began creating pieces under the watchful eye of Kamei Miraku XV at the Miraku-kiln in Fukuoka.
As such, the clay and glazes I use in my works belong to the Takatori tradition. With a particular focus on wares with a thinly refined and delicate appearance belonging to the Kirei-sabi 綺麗寂 aesthetic, I specialise in tea bowls and sake vessels. I seek to create distinctively individual works.
