    My favorite lens
I started bidding on the Sigma 24-70 about 6 months ago, when I decided I just had to have one. I finally won a bid, and the price was right! I have taken about 200 shots with this lens since I recieved it, and love the lens a little more each time I view the pictures. I wish I had a lens like this when I used to shoot weddings. The reviews say this is a soft lens wide open, and at the ends of the zoom range. I have not observed any softness. If you have had experience shooting with a bright lens, in natural lite, with a tripod, you'll love the performance of this lens. I use this lens on a Nikon D1 and a Fujifilm S2 pro, with equally fantastic results. This is now my favorite lens out of the 14 I own.

All the camera you'll ever need.
Up intil the time I decided to bite the bullet and go for the D200, I've been shooting portrates with my Fugifilm S2 Pro, and stills and landscapes with my Nikon D70. I'd borrowed a friends D200, which he used as a back-up to his D2X, and really liked the quality feel and ease of use. When the D300 came out, with all of it's hipe, I held off on buying a D200, thinking that the next generation Prosumer camera might be the way to go. Well, after some hands on time (a half day of shooting)with a borrowed D300, I realised that for my stile of shooting I felt more confortable using the D200. The IQ between the two at ISO 400 (the fastest I typically use)and JPEG fine was indistinguishable up to A1 size prints. My D70 and S2 Pro now just sit in thier bags, as the D200 more than covers my shooting needs. Unless you are a pro (if you are you probibly wouldn't be reading this review anyway)shooting night sports or concerts, the D200 is all the camera you'll ever need.

    CoolPix L11 vs. L12
I had my L11 for 2 years, and loved it. My Marine son needed a camera for use in the field, so I gave him my beloved L11. I mostly shoot with Nikon DSLRs, but like to carry a glove box camera for those unexpected photo ops. while on the road. I bought my L12 to replace my L11. I thought I would be happier with the L12 because of the dedicated VR and Portrate buttons, and slightly higher resolution. The build quality of the "L" series is excellent, and I like the standard AA battery usage. Well, I'm not as happy with the L12 as I thought I would be. The VR function is rather disappointing.I guess I'm just expecting too much, as I use VR lenses with my DSLRs and the L12 has the function in name only. All things considered, the Coolpix L12 is a very good point and shoot camera, and one of the best for it's price point.
