Best value full frame dSLR for second hand
1 of 1 found this helpful This is the best-value FF dSLR in second hand market now -- for just around $1000. It delivers IQ significantly better than 40d. It's high ISO performance is outstanding. If you care about quality of your photo and have a little money to spend, buy one, plus a 24-105 f4 L ($900) and a 70-200 f4 L ($600), and then, forget your gears and just take pictures -- if you are not happy about your photos, blame yourself and think about how to improve your skill...

Nice book, great pictures
1 of 1 found this helpful I bought this book because I want to know more about the names and nature of the birds around my neighborhood. I'm also a amateur bird photographer without much time in the field. This book gives me a lot of knowledge about birds when I set feeder and shoot bird pitures in my backyard. Further, although this book doesn't say anything about bird photography, every picture is great -- absolutly professional level! You can find many great tricks about this challenging job -- although this book is not about it. One small shortcoming I feel is that the geographical distribution of the birds pointed in this book seems not accurate enough, or too rough. I also wish the number/species of the birds could extended a little, including more birds, which is frenquently seen but not often appear in backyard. -- Qing Chang, Champaign, Illinois

Great book in both techniques and art
1 of 1 found this helpful This is a great book for low key portrait photography. Many techques about lighting, dressing and posing are very useful. More importantly, the author introduces these techniques from the angle of art -- what things make an art work outstanding, different from oridinary good photoes. If your are a porfessional portrait photographer, go for it and you will not be wrong. For amateurs like me, I think it's a little bit too "deep", and the requirement for equipments is a little too high -- and the author didn't name any replacement with cheaper or home-mading things. I guess the author didn't write this book for these readers. But if you understands the principles used by the author, you can purchase much cheaper equipments and home-make something if necessary to try -- At least you can shoot some really nice pictures, much better than Wal-mart stidio and good enough to surprise your wife (or husband) and friends. -- Qing Chang, Champaign, Illinois
