Get a real one

This is a Chinese copy of a Japanese Hario coffee maker. Unfortunately they have used a bituminous rubber in the construction which taints the flavour of the coffee. We have washed the coffee maker many times and even boiled it to try to dispel the bitumen taint, but it's still there. If you love your coffee, you are better off saving up for a real Hario.
