Terrific, inexpensive, a great showcase for Steve Perry's time with Journey
If you liked Steve Perry's time with Journey, you will love this.
A terrific collection of strong performances all featuring him as their lead singer.
The songs span from his early performances on Infnity album, in a couple of these I think the make up lady was having a bit of a laugh with him, white face and rosy ish cheeks, but he sounds so great and sells the songs so well it doesn't happen. We continue with some more performances from Evolution, Frontiers, Raised on Radio (check out the permed hair), and Escape albums. They're all great and it's hard to fault them.
The videos are a mixture of studio shots and live performances, spanning Perry's time with the Band. The Trial By Fire track which was nominated for a Grammy award Eyes of a Woman is performed in a hall setting, though they didn't tour with this Final Album with him.
I loved it, you can possibly find these scattered across YouTube but better on one CD with song select and discography.
A particular favourite of mine is Feeling That Way, the video switches between studio footage of the Band all singing for the multi track recordings and a stage show.
The only minor criticism is that it features clips for Live in Houston 1981, which I also have, and I know there are other videos of Any Way You Want It for example that I would have preferred to see.
Minor point though, great to watch any day of the week.

Great quality soft rock songs, ideal if you don't have his earlier work.
It's important to me to have something great to listen to whilst driving, I had listened to everything my favourite rock band of all time Journey had recorded many times on the run up to CHRISTMAS when I was extremely busy, so looked for something quality from that genre of music.
Bon Jovi is a excellent band, I was familiar with their well known big hits but hadn't bought any of their many albums before, so decided this double cd set with much of best work would be a good starting point.
I was very happy with the 14 tracks and the song selection, which ran nicely through to some from the Lost Highway era. The only track missing for me was Dry County, this has an exceptional guitar solo from Richie Sambora, otherwise I couldn't fault it.
To remedy this, I also bought Keep the Faith special Cd set with a bonus cd of live performances, this was more expensive than this Ultimate Collection and there were some tracks duplicated, but not too many. Both are great upbeat listening experiences.

Good but possibly not his best, not on a par with Last Man Standing.
it was pleasing to read another adventure featuring Maxwell and King, my favourites of all the great characters in his novels and both ex Secret Service.. Sean King and Michelle Maxwell first met in the excellent Split Second, were further developed in First Family and Simple Genius.
At the beginning of Sixth Man they have recently become an item, but surprisingly not much mileage is made of their relationship in this novel except on a very basic looking out for one another level.
in my opinion the basic plot of the Sixth Man is not the best from this gifted author, though there is plenty of action, danger and a very neat twist at the end. This may be because there is a lot of political manoeuvres involved in it, rather than straight criminal or terrorist intent which is my personal preference.
