"Easy Operation And Short Learning Curve"
2 of 2 found this helpful This is a great unit for someone who wants to create songs by layering tracks.
There are only two 1/4" inputs for recording instruments or vocals and only two tracks
can be recorded simultaneously, which limits it's suitability for band recordings.
If you've ever owned any multi-track deck, you'll find this one pretty intuitive to
operate. The owners manual is logically written, easy to understand and actually
helpful!
The biggest asset of the DP-01 is it's 40 GB hard drive which provides lots of recording
time and storage; no need to be chained to a computer for data transfer. A small
outboard mixer is almost a must as the DP-01 has no XLR inputs or phantom power
for condenser mikes. The one really annoying omission is the lack of backlighting for
the LCD display screen. This requires the user to have a small desk lamp nearby if
it's not being operated in direct sunlight.
This is a simple and straightforward unit without a lot of bells and whistles, but with all
of the essential features. I've only owned this deck for a short time but I'm already very
comfortable with it. It's well designed and user friendly. With an E-Bay price tag in the
area of $100.00, it's also a lot of "bang for the buck".
