Get to know how India ticks from a sympathetic perspective.
Very readable, well thought out personal commentary on a fascinating country. Mark Tully has a very sympathetic perspective, but this does not prevent him from highlighting inequalities and anachronisms.

Either Love or hate it
I wanted to see this famous film, but think I would have liked it more when it came out. It is beautifully shot, very artistic but so enigmatic as to be impenetrable. The action drifts from the present to the apparent past and back. You are not sure if any of it is real, or even if the people are real, they seem like robots. Watching it via subtitles removes you even further from the action although it appears to be mostly a voice over type commentary with snatches of inconsequential chat.
I would say that if you like art films you should certainly watch it but it would be much better on the big screen and you have to be in the mood to be disturbed and intrigued.
