Nikon 50mm f/1.4 AF -- Portraits Galore!
The Nikon 50mm f/1.4 AF Nikkor is a slightly beefed up version of the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF Nikkor. The optics of the lens seem to be of higher quality, though the general construction is similar to that of the f/1.8. If you need sharper images than what the f/1.8 can offer, you may consider using this lens. Personally, I think the f/1.8 is a better value for the money (typically about half the price of the f/1.4). One of these two lenses should be in every photographer's bag, whether portraits are a priority or not.

A versatile lens that should be in every Nikonian's bag
The Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S VR Nikkor lens is perhaps the most versatile Nikon lens on the market today. The lens produces sharp images out wide as well as close in. The VR (vibration reduction) function does tend to drain battery power from the camera much more quickly than normal, but significantly reduces the chance that your images are blurred. I find that I shoot with this lens 90% of the time; it's great for portraits and landscapes alike!

A Great Reference Tool for Every Nikon D200 Owner!
This Magic Lantern guide is a terrific tool for any D200 owner. Simon Stafford does a wonderful job of describing the various functions of the camera, and provides suggestions that will assist the professional and amateur photographer alike. The purpose of this book isn't to assist the user in developing good technique; rather, it is meant to assist you in learning the functions of the camera in order to help the photographer maximize the capabilities of the D200. The last section of the guide provides some helpful tips for flash photography, both on and off-camera. Also included with the book is a quick reference card that can be carried in a wallet, purse or camera bag. However, I carry the actual book with me just because I find it so useful! This book is definitely worth the $15.00 to $20.00 investment and I would recommend it to any D200 owner.
