Underwhelmed…but maybe my own fault
I found this tape originally on the REI website, where it is marketed as an nearly magical tape to fix nylon and camping-related fabrics. It is specifically set as a superior alternative to iron patches (which won’t work on nylon, since irons tend to burn it or damage the fabric).
Now, I myself am no expert in this area, so please bear that in mind. But I have not found this product to be the magical tape it was marketed to be. I have not yet used it for the most difficult application for which I purchased it. I only used it on an easier test piece—but it failed there immediately. As the surrounding material pulled, the tape’s adhesive gave way :(
After this, then, I am inclined to think that the only fix for truly serious repairs to nylon and related fabrics is either some sort of industrial adhesive or professional re-stitching. I am bummed, lol.
