The World Inside by Robert Silverberg (1971)

Overall a very good book. Dealing with the problem of overpopulation and a future where the vast part of the world's people leave in 3 kilometer tall "Urbmons". I got this book on recommendation from I believe wired.com (some blog entry or link or something).I was impressed with the insight into possible solutions to the "population problem", as well as the complexity and depth of social engineering that would be necessary to reach such solutions. All in all, an interesting and entertaining read.
