Two of the ultimate trippy 60's 'hippie' movies
'Psych-Out' is a great film starring Jack Nicholson 2 years before he had his star making appearance in the ultimate Hippie Flick, 'Easy Rider'. This movie was produced by none other than TV's Dick Clark, and it's pretty cool to see character actors like Dean Stockwell and Bruce Dern in this movie. Susan Strasberg is good in the movie, too. The only problem with seeing Jack and Dern playing hippies is that they were in their thirties when they made this film, and it's a stretch to think that they were honest to god hippies. Plus their 'hippie' wigs looked so bad! This is still well worth seeing.
'The Trip' stars Peter Fonda and Bruce Dern, as well a Susan Strasberg again,and is ok, but not as good as 'Psych-Out'. Jack Nicholson wrote the screenplay for 'The Trip', by the way, and he worked with Roger Corman and American International Pictures a LOT during the 50's and 60's. After 1969's 'Easy Rider', he didn't have to work IN B-MOVIES ANYMORE.
Look up Jack's resume on imdb.com and see how many films he wrote the screenplay for. He actually wrote the screenplay for The Monkees 1968 film 'Head', which is another freak-out sort of acid trippy silly film.
I hope that this DVD with the two films on it isn't out of print forever. If you want to see how Haight-Ashbury in San Fran. really was during the peak 'summer of love' time, you need to see 'Psych-Out'.
There are a few extras on the disc with interviews with some of the cast, Dick Clark and the late great Cinematographer, Laszlo Kovacs, who worked on 'Psych-Out', 'Easy Rider' and many many great films.

Two of the great cheesy Sci-fi/Horror films.
These films are worth checking out if you want to see what people watched at the Drive-In movie theaters in the 1950's and 1960's. Classic cheesy melodramatic stuff. If you love this sort of movie like I do, you will like watching these two movies.

Elvis and Ann Margret! You can't go wrong!
1 of 1 found this helpful A cool groovy 1960's Elvis with the ever sexy and beautiful Ann Margret. The do Las Vegas together and there are some very good songs and dance numbers in this movie. All of Elvis' movies are cheesy and campy, but that's what makes them fun to watch, baby! Thank you very much!
