Helicoil saves damaged threads
If you encounter damaged threads, especially in aluminum, this Helicoil will save the piece. This is a minimal kit that does not include the needed drill bit so if you don't have a complete set of bits, you might choose a set that includes the drill bit. The install is easy and permanent.

The Taurus 1911 38 Super magazine
Taurus 1911 magazines in 38 Super are good quality and excellent feeders. The follower has less rock than a Colt and many other brands. The mag body is strong, spring also good. Unlike traditional 1911 mags, Taurus has a removable base plate which allows quick disassembly and easy, frequent cleaning--a very nice feature. The base plate itself has both pro and con features. The plastic base plate works like a bump pad so you don't need to add one for positive seating. Unfortunately, a hard drop of a loaded magazine can break the baseplate. All in all, a good magazine but not one that can be dropped on a concrete surface.
